Hello, people!

Vamos observar agora como funciona o verbo auxiliar DID para as formas negativa e interrogativa no passado. Veja a ilustração a seguir:

DID YOU STUDY ENGLISH? = Você estudou inglês?

Repare que o verbo “did” não tem tradução e o verbo “to study” não está na forma regular, mas foi traduzido no passado.

Isso aconteceu porque “did” cumpriu sua função, ou seja, auxiliar o verbo principal (to study) a “ficar no passado”.

Esta, portanto, foi a forma interrogativa. A forma negativa:

I DIDN’T STUDY ENGLISH. = Eu não estudei inglês.

Neste caso, “didn’t” é a forma contraída de “did not” (você pode utilizar esta forma, também). A função de “did” é a mesma vista na forma interrogativa, apenas em posição diferente.
